Rooted
/root-id/ :to be deeply established—firmly anchored, organically connected to the earth, and sustained by the quiet strength and stability from which life grows.A nine-month journey for parents who are ready to look closely … at their child, and themselves.
The early years matter more than we’ve been taught to believe.
You love your child. That was never the question. The real question is quieter than that. It's the one that shows up at 6am when the day hasn't started yet and you're already tired. It's the one behind every choice about childcare, about school, about screen time, about whether to sign up for one more activity or finally say no.
What do we actually want our family life to look like?
The way you are living right now and the choices you are making shape who your child is becoming, and lay the foundation for your child to live fully and deeply. That's not pressure, it’s reality, and it's worth taking seriously.
You're not looking for more advice.
You've read the books. You've followed the accounts. You have opinions about attachment, about screen time, about whether preschool at three is too soon or right on time.
And still, most mornings, you're making it up as you go.
SOUND FAMILIAR?
Every source seems to disagree with the last one.
Your child doesn't do what the books say children do.
You're exhausted by decisions that never end: school or homeschool, this activity or that one, yes or no, again.
Somewhere in the noise, your own instincts got quiet.
This isn't a knowledge problem. You don't need one more expert telling you the right way to parent.
You need space to come back to yourself.
To find out what you actually believe underneath everyone else’s opinions. And then build a life that reflects it.
That's what Rooted is for.
WHY ROOTED?
Most of what shapes your family is invisible.
The visible things are easy to see: the calendar, the toys, the rules you are trying to hold. But underneath all of it are the things that actually drive your days: your nervous system. the patterns you inherited without choosing them. What your child is really developing beneath what you see in front of you.
Rooted doesn’t hand you a system to follow. It’s a journey where you explore/uncover what is true for your family. Layer by layer, over the course of a year. Because what you find yourself you carry differently than what you're simply told.
WHAT ROOTED IS
Rooted is a nine-month program for parents of children ages 0 to 8. It's built around one idea: the family that knows what it values doesn't need a script.
Over nine months, you'll slow down enough to notice what's actually true for your family. Not what's trending, not what worked for your neighbor. What's true for you.
From there, everything else gets easier to decide:
How you want to structure your days and your time
What kind of learning environment fits your child, whether that's school, homeschool, or something in between
How to choose childcare, activities, and rhythms that support your family instead of scattering it
How to parent from presence instead of reaction
This isn't a curriculum to implement. It's a practice you build with yourself and your child.
Together, we can build a family life that feels less like managing, and more like tending something alive.
Enrollment now open for September 2026.
THE FOUNDATION
Relationship first.
Before rhythm. Before environment. Before decisions about school, schedules, or parenting strategies, there is relationship.
Your relationship with yourself, the parent beneath the role. The one who gets tired, reacts before they mean to, and is still growing, too.
Your relationship with your child, not centered on managing behavior, but on truly knowing who they are.
And your child's relationship with themselves: their quiet sense of I am. I can. I belong. That identity isn't built through achievement. It grows from being consistently seen, known, and loved.
Everything in the program begins here. We don't rush past relationship to get to strategies, because strategies are only as strong as the foundation they're built on.
FOR YOU
Presence and awareness
You’ll learn to notice the patterns quietly shaping your parenting; the moments you're reacting instead of responding, or living from inherited stories instead of your deepest values. As your awareness grows, so does your capacity to choose with intention. This is the work that allows everything else to take root.
FOR YOUR CHILD
A steady sense of self
You'll learn to see beyond behavior to the developmental needs shaping your child. With a deeper understanding of how they grow, you'll make everyday parenting decisions with greater clarity and confidence, nurturing a whole person becoming themselves.
When you can see what's underneath, everything on the surface starts to make more sense.
BEFORE ROOTED
Your days are shaped by whatever feels urgent, not by what you actually value.
You're reacting to your child's behavior more than understanding it.
Every parenting decision feels like it's being made from scratch, alone.
You're not sure if what you're doing is "enough," or the right thing.
BY THE END OF THE YEAR
Your days have a rhythm that holds, even when it bends.
You can see what's underneath your child's behavior, not just react to it.
You're making decisions from a framework you trust, not starting over each time.
You still won't have it all figured out. But you'll trust yourself more.
THE EXPLORATION
Rhythm, environment, experience.
Next, we move through three interconnected threads of family life to weave together the family life you are seeking.
We move slowly enough to understand the why before the how. We also engage practices to deepen understanding of what you are seeing and experiencing.
Each thread has a visible layer, and a deeper one beneath it. We'll work with both, returning to them throughout the nine months, deepening with each season.
-

RHYTHM
Rhythm isn't a schedule. It's the pulse of a family's days... predictable enough to feel safe, flexible enough to breathe.
Visible: The calendar, the routine, the clock.
Invisible: Your family's real need for predictability, and where it's coming from.
How you'll build it
Read your child's natural rhythms, instead of forcing a routine onto them.
Build a daily and weekly rhythm around what your family actually values, not what everyone else is doing.
Adjust rhythm as your child grows and the season changes, without starting from scratch each time.
-

ENVIRONMENT
Environment is never neutral. Every space teaches something, whether we mean it to or not.
Visible: The furniture, the toys, the decor.
Invisible: What the space is actually communicating to your child.
How you'll build it
Prepare spaces at home that invite independence, instead of managing it.
Choose, or shape, learning environments outside the home... school, childcare, co-ops, in line with what you value.
Simplify what's around your child, without losing warmth.
-

EXPERIENCE
Children don't need more activities. They need experiences rich enough to actually hold their attention, and their growth.
Visible: The activity, the outing, the lesson.
Invisible: What your child is actually working on inside of it.
How you'll build it
Choose learning and enrichment with intention, instead of filling a calendar.
Let ordinary life, cooking, walking, chores, become real learning.
Recognize when more is actually less.
THE HONEST PART
This is invisible work.
You'll notice what lives beneath your reactions, habits, and assumptions. You'll learn to listen more deeply, trust your intuition, and make space for what wants to emerge.
There will be moments of uncertainty, release, and growth: not because you're doing it wrong, but because becoming more intentional asks something of us.
By the end of nine months, you won't have a rulebook. You'll have something sturdier: your own clarity. You'll be able to make decisions about school, childcare, activities, and rhythms based on what truly matters to your family... not what's popular, expected, or driven by fear.
And alongside you, your child is growing with a parent who is more present, more grounded, and more fully themselves.
What this makes possible:
Letting go of the patterns you inherited or copied in search of being a "good" parent.
Trusting that noticing your child is meaningful work.
Recognizing your own history with compassion.
Allowing yourself to not have every answer yet.
Returning, again and again, to what is true and life-giving for your family.
That isn't a side effect. It's the whole point.
THE PROGRAM
How the year unfolds.
Rooted moves through three phases, each one deepening your relationship with yourself, your child, and what matters to you. You’ll explore what you want for your family, and build your foundation through what you experience one season at a time.
-
Months 1-3
See it
Can you see what's underneath?
You'll begin noticing your own patterns and your child's invisible threads... the drivers beneath your reactions, and the learning beneath their play.
-
Months 4-6
Live It
Can you build with it?
You'll start shaping rhythm, environment, and experience intentionally, using what you've uncovered instead of what you've copied.
-
Months 7-9
Trust It
Can you let it hold?
You'll settle into what you've built, trusting it enough to loosen your grip, and carry it forward past the program itself.
WHAT YOU’LL WALK AWAY WITH
Clearer Days
A rhythm that reflects what your family actually values, not what you copied.
Steadier Responses
Tools to notice your own patterns before they drive your reactions.
A Child Who Feels Seen
You'll understand what's beneath their behavior, not just manage it.
Decisions You Trust
A framework for school, childcare, and daily choices... not a script.
A Home That Works
Spaces that invite independence, instead of requiring constant management.
Support That Lasts
A community and a framework you carry with you past the nine months.
The Rooted Journey
Rooted is a guided experience designed to help you slow down, notice more deeply, and make thoughtful decisions, and incorporate what you are exploring into your experience at home. It unfolds over nine months, from September through May, moving in rhythm with the seasons and alongside your child's development.
You won't be alone, and you won't be rushed through it.
Rooted gives you the space to listen, understand, and grow alongside your child, season by season. Throughout the year, you'll have the time, space, and support to build a parenting practice that will support you and your family.

YOUR GUIDE ON THE JOURNEY
Megan Buchanan Schopf
Megan is the founder of Creative Seed Community — a developmental coaching practice rooted in the belief that how we show up with children shapes everything.
She has spent over two decades as a mother, Montessori-trained educator, and practicing artist, and has worked with children and families across a range of learning environments, from traditional classrooms to intimate home-based communities she created herself.
Her work begins with a simple premise: children arrive whole. Her coaching and programs help parents and educators return to that understanding; learning to observe more deeply, trust the process unfolding in front of them, and tend the conditions in which real growth becomes possible.
She writes a weekly newsletter and creates experiences and materials for families and educators who want to navigate the rhythms of childhood with intention and care.
Be present. Trust the process. Lead with love.
QUESTIONS
A few things worth knowing
-
The things that shape your family but rarely get named... your own patterns and nervous system, what's really driving your child's behavior, what a space is quietly communicating. Rooted teaches you to see these, not just the visible surface of schedules and activities.
-
Yes. Rooted is built for the range, not one age. The framework flexes: what rhythm and environment look like for an infant is different than for a seven-year-old, and the monthly sessions meet your child's actual stage as it unfolds this year.
-
Sessions are recorded, so you won't lose the month if life gets in the way. The live group Q&A and your 1:1 calls are where you'll want to show up in real time, since those are built around your specific questions.
-
No. Rooted supports you in the choices you want to make for your child regarding learning and school based on what you are noticing about your child and what matters to you.
-
No, though many families find it helpful for both to be involved where possible. One parent enrolling and bringing what they learn home is completely workable.
-
Megan, directly, throughout the year. She's a Montessori-trained educator, practicing artist, and parent, and she leads every group session, Q&A, and 1:1 call herself.
ROOTED IS FOR YOU IF …
You have a child (or children) somewhere between 0 and 8
You're tired of parenting advice that doesn't account for your actual family
You have a decision in front of you, about school, childcare, or how your days are structured, and you want to make it from clarity instead of pressure
You're willing to look at your own patterns, not just your child's behavior
You want a rhythm to your parenting, not a rulebook
Rooted may not be the right fit if you're looking for a fast fix or a strict method to follow step by step. This is slower work. It asks something of you. What it gives back is a family life that finally feels like yours.
READY WHEN YOU ARE
